How Much Does PPF Cost in Dubai? Real Numbers From Real Quotes

Share

It's the question that comes up every single week in Dubai's owner forums. One buyer wrote: “the dealership is charging me like 22k for PPF, which I know for a fact is ridiculous.” Another, on an EQS 580, was quoted high figures by the agency and came to a forum asking who to trust: “should I go with it? Or should I do it outside?” Same question, same city, usually within a week of each other. And the honest answer is that nobody in Dubai will give you one price, because PPF pricing is the least standardised number in this entire industry. So rather than another vague range, here's how the pricing actually works, what the real numbers are in 2026, and where the money genuinely goes. If you want our own breakdown first, our PPF service page covers the films we work with and how we price a coverage area.

We install PPF every week in Al Quoz, so we've seen every version of this quote that exists. This is the breakdown we'd give a friend.

What PPF Actually Costs in Dubai Right Now

Let's start with numbers rather than adjectives. These are the honest ranges we've seen quoted and paid across the UAE market for a full-body installation, and where the genuine market sits:

  • Budget film, hand-cut installation: AED 6,000 to 9,000 for a sedan. This is real work at the lower end of the market, and on a straightforward car with clean paint, it can be a perfectly sensible spend.
  • Quality branded film, full body: AED 10,000 to 16,000. This is the range most of the serious independents quote, and where we would put any car you actually care about.
  • Premium brands and complex cars: AED 16,000 to 22,000+ for XPEL Ultimate Plus, Suntek or similar on a large SUV, a coupe with complex contours or a matte finish. Owners generally put this band on cars over AED 500,000.
  • Dealer packages: Frequently AED 18,000 to 30,000 for the same work. Not always, but often enough that the number itself should make you ask questions.

So when a forum poster says "quality PPF should be about 15 to 18k", they're not being greedy. They're describing the top of the independent market, which is exactly where most cars in this category should sit. The 22k dealer quote isn't a rip-off in the sense of being fake. It's a rip-off in the sense of a 60 to 80 percent markup over the independents.

Why the Dealer Quote Is Always Higher

Nobody in this business is hiding the reason, and it isn't greed. It's commissions, and it comes from a place most owners never see.

On Dubai's owner forums this comes up constantly, and one owner put it plainly: “Never do PPF with agency because the moment you spend 8.5k there will be multiple layers of commissions waived off and you will only get the service hardly worth of 4-5k.” The dealer sells the car, the finance office sells the insurance, the detailing desk sells the film, and each of them carries a target. Your quote is the output of four targets stacked on top of each other. The film being installed is often exactly the same film you'd get from an independent studio. The price difference is structure, not product.

There's a version of this that's worse. Some packages are sold as a bundle with ceramic coating, tint and paint protection, where the individual items are marked up so heavily that the "package discount" is really just a discount against an inflated number. The forum consensus on ceramic add-ons at the point of sale was blunt: “They get commissions on all the add ons.” If you want coating priced on its own merits rather than as a bundle line, our ceramic and graphene coating service is quoted separately from any film work.

Thickness Is the Wrong Number to Compare

This is the mistake that costs people the most, and it comes up in almost every quote conversation we have. A 7.5-mil film is not automatically better than an 8.5-mil film.

PPF is made from TPU, and what actually determines performance is how that TPU is constructed, not how thick the finished film happens to be. A thicker film made with cheaper, less consistent resin will outlast a thinner film made with top-grade material every time. Owners working this out for themselves have landed on the same conclusion: it depends on how the TPU is constructed, not just on a thicker film.

So when a shop leads with thickness as their selling point, ask the better questions: which brand is the film, what does it self-heal like, what's the actual warranty on the installation, and can I see the roll before it's applied?

Pre-Cut vs Hand-Cut: This One Is Free

Not free literally, but it costs you nothing extra and it's the single clearest quality signal in this industry. A pre-cut kit means the film arrives machine-cut to your exact model, panel by panel, with the correct relief cuts already in place.

The reason owners give for recommending a particular shop is usually exactly this: the PPF is precut by machine before application to your car, so the applicators are not using knives in tight spaces where they may nick the paint. That's the whole argument. On a hand-cut install, someone with a blade is working close to your clear coat, often tracing a panel crease or a badge recess. A nick there is a repaint. A pre-cut kit removes the blade from most of those decisions.

Our PPF service page covers the films we work with and how a coverage area is decided for your car.

How Much Coverage Do You Actually Need?

Full body is the default assumption, and for a lot of cars it's the wrong answer. This is genuinely one of the more useful conversations we have, because PPF is priced by area and the areas vary enormously.

  • Full body: every painted panel, front to rear, doors to roof. Right for a new car you'll keep five-plus years, a matte or satin finish, or a car that's garaged.
  • High-impact package: bonnet, front bumper, front wings, mirror caps, leading edges and sills. On a lot of cars this covers where 80 to 90 percent of real damage happens, for a fraction of the full-body price.
  • Track-day or desert-use package: the same high-impact zones, plus anything that faces stone. Slightly wider, because that use case earns the spend.
  • Partial edges and edges-only: for older cars with existing chips, or as a first step before you commit to full coverage later.

A car parked at a mall will collect dings that PPF will not prevent, which is exactly the point owners make when they say that for a 120k car, don't bother with PPF, because the dings in the mall are the real damage and they're unavoidable. That's also fair. Protection doesn't remove parking damage. It removes the sand and stone chips that a Dubai summer writes into every bumper.

When a Cheap Quote Is Genuinely a Bad Idea

We install premium film, so we're obviously not the right people to tell you to spend more. But we'd be doing you a disservice if we didn't say plainly where the floor is, because the cheapest quote in Dubai is almost never the cheapest car.

Film quality and prep quality are the two things that decide whether a cheap install ends up costing you more than a fair one:

  1. Was the paint corrected before the film went on? If it went on over swirls and chips, those defects are now sealed in permanently under the film, and they were never going to be fixed later.
  2. Was the film a genuine branded product with a verifiable warranty? An unnamed roll with a 7-year warranty attached to a shop rather than a manufacturer is not what it claims to be.
  3. Is the warranty written and transferable? A verbal promise of a 5-year warranty that leaves with the installer is worth very little.
  4. Was the car in a clean, controlled bay? PPF needs dust-free application. A workshop doing this in an open bay is gambling with your clear coat.
  5. Does the quote separate film from labour? A quote that doesn't itemise them is hard to compare against anyone else's.

For the actual protection comparison — what film does versus what a coating does — our ceramic coating vs PPF breakdown covers it in detail. Most owners end up with both, and for a car driven daily in Dubai that's usually the correct answer.

Getting a Quote From Us

Send us your make, model and year, and tell us the coverage you're considering. You'll get a written quote that separates film, labour and prep, names the brand, and states the warranty in writing. If our number is higher than a cheaper quote, we'll tell you what you're getting for the difference, and if you're buying a lower-grade film we'll say so rather than quietly matching it.

Prices move with film brands, coverage and the condition of the paint, so any quote should follow an inspection of your actual car. Get in touch and we'll take it from there.

The Bottom Line

PPF in Dubai costs between roughly AED 6,000 and AED 22,000 for the same basic job, and the spread is explained by film brand, coverage, prep quality and how many commission layers sit between you and the installer. Don't compare thickness. Do ask whether the film is pre-cut. Do get the warranty in writing. And do remember that the most expensive quote is not automatically the best work, and the cheapest is almost never the cheapest car.

Frequently Asked Questions

Full-body PPF typically ranges from AED 10,000 to 16,000 with quality branded film, AED 6,000 to 9,000 at the budget end, and AED 16,000 to 22,000+ for premium brands or complex vehicles. Dealer packages regularly quote AED 18,000 to 30,000 for comparable work. Coverage level is the single biggest factor in the final price.
