Steering Geometry

Steering geometry encompasses all the angular measurements that determine how your wheels are positioned relative to the vehicle and to each other. The key angles are camber (inward/outward tilt of the wheel), caster (forward/rearward tilt of the steering axis), toe (parallel alignment of the wheels), and thrust angle (the relationship between the front and rear axle alignment). Each angle serves a specific purpose. Camber affects cornering grip and straight-line stability. Caster affects steering feel and high-speed stability. Toe affects steering response and tyre wear. Thrust angle determines whether the car tracks straight or crab-walks slightly. Incorrect geometry in any of these angles leads to specific symptoms: excessive negative camber causes inner tyre wear, incorrect caster causes light or heavy steering feel, and incorrect toe causes rapid and uneven tyre wear across the tread surface.
