Control Arm Replacement

Control arms connect the wheel hub to the vehicle's chassis, allowing the suspension to move up and down while maintaining wheel alignment. They contain rubber or spherical bushings at the chassis end and a ball joint at the wheel end. As these bushings and ball joints wear, they develop play that causes clunking noises over bumps, wandering steering, poor braking stability, and uneven tyre wear. Our control arm diagnosis involves inspecting each control arm for bushing deterioration, ball joint play, and any bending or damage to the arm itself. We check for movement by prying against the bushings and checking for vertical play in the ball joints. On multi-link suspension systems common in luxury cars, there are typically 4 to 5 control arms per wheel, and wear in any one arm affects the alignment of the entire suspension geometry. We recommend replacing all worn arms at a single service to restore complete suspension integrity.

We use genuine OEM or premium aftermarket control arms that match the original specifications for material quality, bushing durometer, and ball joint design. After control arm replacement, a four-wheel alignment is essential as new bushings and ball joints restore the suspension geometry to its correct position. We also check and replace any related components that may have been affected by the worn control arms, including anti-roll bar links, steering tie rods, and wheel bearings that may have been subjected to abnormal loads.
