The steering rack is the critical component that converts your steering wheel rotation into the lateral movement that turns the wheels. In luxury cars, the steering rack incorporates power steering assistance - either hydraulic or electric - that makes steering light and precise. When the rack develops faults such as internal seal leaks (hydraulic), electric motor failure (EPS), excessive play, or stiff steering, the driving experience is significantly affected. Our steering rack diagnosis begins with checking for physical damage, oil leaks from hydraulic lines and seals, and play in the rack by rocking the front wheels while the car is stationary. For hydraulic power steering systems, we check fluid level and condition, test pump pressure, and inspect all hoses and connections. For electric power steering (EPS) systems, we read fault codes from the steering column module, test the electric motor and torque sensor, and check the wiring and connectors. EPS faults often produce warning lights and may cause the power assist to reduce or fail entirely.

Steering rack repair ranges from seal replacement for hydraulic leaks to complete rack replacement for internal wear or EPS motor failure. After rack replacement or repair, we perform a four-wheel alignment to ensure correct steering geometry. We also check and adjust the steering angle sensor calibration, which is critical for the stability control system.
